Summer 2017

Harvest 2017 officially began on the 5th January this year with the Pinot Noir for our Methode Cap Classique Brut. Grapes are carefully selected in order to pick the ripest bunches with relatively low sugar and good firm acids. 2017 looks to be a great year in terms of quality and quantity. We expect that we will achieve a record crush this year.

We have recently released two new wines to the portfolio, a Grenache Noir and a Tempranillo. Both varietals are unusual for South Africa but both produce such interesting taste sensations we decided to bottle them as 100% varietals.  We have also added a 100% Carignan to the LB stable which is also an exciting varietal with intense fruit and oak on the nose with a smooth, complex palate to match. 

The Cooperage Venue, the newest addition to the Anura portfolio, has succesfully hosted a variety of corporate and private events. The space has shown its varsatility and ability to handle car launches, year ends, weddings, parties, festivals and product launches. We hosted Kamers Vol Geskenke late last year, which saw roughly 10000 people move through the space during the course of the week long event.

Wagon Trail Brewing Co and Restaurant continues to produce its 4 craft beers and has begun with bottling. All 4 can now be purchased in bottle from the brewery. The #WagonWednesday weekly live music and pizza evenings will continue through summer and bookings can be made by tel, email or facebook. There will also be monthly night trail runs on Anura on the 1st Wednesday of each month. Runners are encouraged to stay for a beer or glass of wine and a meal afterwards.
